Florida Trail - 45 Miles - The Return To The Florida Trail (Three Lakes WMA to Bull Creek WMA)

Florida Trail - 45 Miles - The Return To The Florida Trail
(Three Lakes WMA to Bull Creek WMA)
Hello fellow friends!
Hope everyone is doing well.
I will start this blog post by wishing everyone a happy new year
and hoping all of you can meet your dreams and goals this year.
I personally have a few things plans for this 2020 year that I will talk
about in detail later on during the course of the year.
The great news is that we are back on the Florida Trail! How exciting!
Yes, we finally decided it was the right time and moment to get back on the Florida Trail
after long awaited 8 months of leaving behind the thru-hike experience.
Also, excited that this will be my first blog post of the year.
After such a long time we when back to where we left off on the Three Lakes Wildlife
Management Area section all the way through Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area.
To gain back our confidence back we decided to start our first hike
of the year with a strong and hard 45-miles hike.
We needed to test ourselves after spending so much
time without our weekend hiking routine.
I personally had gotten a bit lazy and have gained
a few pounds this past couple of months,
believe it or not!
This hike definitely gave us back the true meaning of what a full thru-hike experience
feels like, we encountered a little bit of everything: animals,
rain, cold night, swamps and lots of muddy trails!
This time around we invited a friend of ours Leonardo that wanted
to try out and experience the Florida Trail for himself.
As always it is a difficult time for new people to try a thru-hike for the first time,
even though we all try to encourage and motivate ourselves out there,
as you can see on the photos above he was around only for the first day,
but unfortunately, he had to leave the trail due to personal reasons,
later on Hector and I continued the rest of the trail finishing up the next afternoon.
The next day morning we came across the Central Florida Animal Reserve,
here you can spot many tigers and cougars that have been either
rescued or taken care of during this reserve.
It is by far one of most impressive and best experience out here in the Florida Trail,
we were lucky enough to spot many tigers and other animals around this reserve.
At first, they seemed a bit startled and scared, but after a while we noticed
this seemed like a great facility and environment for these animals,
I would definitely visit again in the near future to experience more.
A couple of hours later we started experiencing a lot of muddy trails,
unfortunately, it had rained the day before which makes some of the section
of the trails really muddy making really difficult for us to walk or cross around it.
As the 2nd day started finishing we were heading onto our last 5-6 miles of the hike,
the night time was getting close and top it off we came across to more swamp sections,
little did we know that these were going the most difficult miles of the hike.
It was getting darker and darker and we could not spot the Florida Trail signs
making it really difficult for us to hike this last section,
without doubt we were really scared of the swamp and hiking at night,
definitely one of the most thrilling hiking experiences on the Florida Trail.
Again, this entire 45-mile hike was exciting, thrilling and difficult
but it felt so damn good to be back hiking the Florida Trail.
Well guys I leave you off with some great content and photography
of our return to the Florida Trail. Once again, we are so glad and happy
that we are heading out there with more determination and commitment,
we are fully aware that we still have a long way to go but we also feel confident
enough to keep going and finish the Florida Trail this year.
Stay tuned for more blog posts!
