Day 4: Half Dome, California (One Week Adventure)

Day 4: Half Dome, California
Welcome back readers!
Day 4 of my trip in my opinion is the most dangerous,
and most adventurous
I’ve experienced as a hiker.
Here it goes.

Our course continued to California, passing through Las Vegas watching the sunset, and enjoying the great deserts is was quite pleasant.
Sleeping the night off outside of Yosemite National Park was somewhat cold, and uncomfortable.
We got ourselves a few hours of sleep,
and back on the road very early;
As close as we were to Yosemite National Park,
it felt like a long drive,
what we didn’t know is that Yosemite is enormous.
Setting up camp, and making ourselves comfortable enough;
since this was our last hike, we decided to start our hike at mid-day.
The Half Dome is hike is about a 17-mile round trip route,
with some pretty high elevations, which are extremely exhausting.
Struggling with some long walks, with our tired bodies, we took easily more than 5 hours just to get to the top of granite.
Reaching the top, and just observing this beautiful giant rock; for a moment I stood there frightened of how I was going to climb the ropes.
Tired, exhausted, pretty much shattered;
I said to myself “It is not worth, unless you reach very top”.
If you are afraid of heights (which I am) I wouldn’t recommend
climbing the Dome.
I took my first steps, and slowly but carefully I was confidence enough to climb the Dome in 15-20 minutes.
Taking a fresh breath up to feels great!
Reaching the top, is astonishing, breathtaking, amazing, it is complete different feeling.
I was there, I made it to the 8,844 feet.
A dream come true,
something I couldn’t believe to myself;
encountering the famous piece of rock
I was bravely enough to look down at the most
impressive view ever possible of
Yosemite National Park,
something worth experiencing.
Heading back felt easier;
however, we didn’t count of the night
coming out so rapidly.
Good tip for hikers out there,
always, always have your flashlights in your pack.
In our case, we forgot about them, and we had to hike down
in the wild darkness.
Alarmed, terrified, panicked we hiked faster than ever,
somehow, we focused on the tracks, and our careful steps.
In the end, we made it back and alive.
It was one hell of scary situation,
as true hikers, we laughed about it later on,
and we took a great experience, and a scary home
back to home.

Next morning, we had to say our goodbyes
to Yosemite National Park.
It was incredibly the most impressive park I’ve seen,
even though we visited for a short period of time,
Yosemite became home,
Yosemite is where my heart will always be.

Stop!
The trip is not over yet.
On my next post.
I’ll take to San Francisco!

Stay tuned!
