Snowy Getaway Weekend
As 2018 comes to the end,
I always try to plan a weekend getaway
or a small trip to finish the year on a good note.
This year the destination was Colorado.
Hopped into a late night flight from Miami to Denver Intl. Airport,
a good 2-hour drive south to a little town called Alma.
Even thought we knew the temperatures were really low,
what surprises us the most were the foggy and icy roads,
which made it pretty difficult to drive and get to our cabin at 5am,
yes you heard that right, 5am!
The following day was all about exploring,
and getting to know the town of Alma.
On a fun fact: Alma is the highest incorporated town
in North America at 10,578 feet,
with an estimated population of 275 people,
which is like mind blowing! am I right?
One of my favorite things about this town is the serenity
and beautiful landscaping that surrounded us, it was amazing.
Our cabin was located on very high peak part of the mountain,
a pretty quiet location and a bit far of the town, which it was perfect.
Trust me when I say pictures don't do justice to the beauty of this cabin,
and the spectacular view of the mountains;
it was out of a movie scene.
On our last day, we knew we had more than 10-hours to spare,
so we decided to hit Downtown Denver.
With Christmas around the corner,
the streets were beautiful,
and all places were light up as if it was New Years.
We felt the need to explore and stroll down the streets of Denver,
visiting restaurants, coffee shops and all kind of bars,
for the most part we felt the charmed of this city.
Coming back home, I started to remind myself how lucky
I was to have visited Colorado on several occasions,
it is definitely the perfect city for a weekend getaway.
Hope ya'll enjoy the content and pictures on this blog.
Now let's get back to reality and start preparing for the Holidays!
