Birthday Celebration At Boston
Hello travelers!👋
Hope everyone is doing well. Now that I have some free time I was able to organize myself and work extensively on my blog.
Before I never had the chance to upload my Boston trip blog post and there
was a short draft version I have written but still needed to polish a few things before uploading.
This is one of the many blogs I needed to update along with all the photos and videos,
so here is the updated long version of our trip to Boston.
A few months back I had no plans for my birthday and honestly didn't know what to do,
since the pandemic was still around I was hesitant of visiting a new city or destination.
One day while checking out flights and places to visit I started looking into
the East side of the country and Boston caught my attention.
I noticed flights and hotel prices were very cheap at the time,
COVID restrictions and guidelines were still moderate but nothing crazy,
so I gather the group around to tell them about making a Boston Trip for my birthday.
For the next couple of weeks I put together a reasonable package and itinerary for this Boston trip,
purchasing the flight and hotels a month in advanced is always helpful and choosing
all the local places and breweries in Boston was something I was looking forward to.
We arrived to Boston on an early flight and a beautiful sunny day.
Checked in at our hotel Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel located right in the heart
of Downtown Boston and Seaport District which was the perfect location for us.
Day one was all about getting to explore Downtown Boston, Seaport District,
and visiting a few breweries and pubs we had listed on our itinerary.
Our first brewery stop was at Trillium Brewing Company.
For every restaurant or brewery we visited I had reservation made
since I had learned my lesson from my last trip to Chicago.
Trillium Brewing has a beautiful outdoor courtyard, roof deck,
and indoor seating for all their guests.
They offer a variety of draft and local beer alongside
their seasonally full restaurant menu.
We had a reservation for indoor seating since it was a bit hot outside
and we needed to freshen up with some cold beer and shade.
The taproom inside is very rustic, beautiful and has an old vibe to it that I quite enjoyed.
Inside you can find retail to-go beer and merchandise store for souvenirs,
and of course if you know I definitely bought a few stuff here.
Next, we had the Institute of Contemporary Art.
To kill some time we wanted to check out some art and exhibitions
as we had heard good things about this contemporary museum.
I have to be honest I wasn't quite fond of the "art" here,
everything seemed a bit political and biased but not my cup of tea.
For the night we waited for our friends Damian and Mariam
as they were arriving from Miami on late flight and needed catching up to do.
The Lansdowne Pub was our main bar for the night,
this pub was located right on the main street of the famous Fenway Park Stadium as you can
imagine it was crowded and this seemed to be a famous street as it was filled with lots pubs/bars.
We stayed here until midnight and we went to back to the hotel as we
needed to wake up early the next day to keep exploring the city.
Day two was probably our busiest day here in Boston,
we had coming up the Museum of Science, back to back breweries between Dorchester
Brewing Company and Samuel Adams Boston Brewery and Yotel Rooftop Bar at night.
The Museum Of Science had a ton of exhibits and rooms to discover.
We spent roughly around 2-hours experiencing each room but
it wasn't nearly enough what we thought it would be.
A three-story building with some many exhibitions that you could literally spend
the entire day here especially if you come with the family or group of friends.
We headed next to the other side of town to get some drinks and food at Dorchester Brewing Company.
This was our second brewery on this trip and I was excited to explore this one.
This brewery had a great selection of draft beers at their taproom,
anything from light to dark beers to anything local.
We had a rooftop reservation with indoor seating,
we got comfortable booth seats with nice music inside the deck room,
the food was delicious as they had nice combo of BBQ and pork,
so you could say we ate a lot over here.
On the first level they have gaming room with lots of spaces and more seating available,
apart from this you could find their souvenir store which at the time they were not selling many items.
All around this was great brewery with a local vibe to the city and to the real Boston,
most people tend to visit this brewery a lot as it is located right in the suburbs of Dorchester.
Definitely a great time and I would strongly recommend visiting.
Next we went to my all time favorite beer and brewery Samuel Adams Boston Brewery.
Ah man I was so happy and excited to finally visit this brewery,
at first I found it to be very small establishment but they had some areas close due to COVID.
Here we did had the chance to enjoy some Samuel Adams samplers
as the previous breweries were not offering it.
We all literally told our server to surprise us with different types of beers and
flavors to make this whole experience unique and that he did!
Each sampler had a tagline with the name of beer, ABV, and description as well,
we tried beers from their strongest IPA to American Lager to Pale Ale,
we literally had a blast drinking small ounces of beer from each sampler.
Imagine we had been drinking since mid-afternoon and we had been to two breweries
back to back so least you could say we were pretty hammered by now.
Unfortunately, the brewing tours were close due to you know... COVID.
This was a real bummer for because I was looking forward to this the most,
but I guess I can always come back whenever I visit Boston again.
Their gift shop was on point,
they had several souvenirs that I liked and I wished I could have bought them all
but I purchased just the necessary items that I tend to collect for my personal collection.
By the end of the reservation we had drank and tried every single beer they offered us
and it was time to head back to the hotel if we wanted to continue to our next rooftop bar.
Later that night we got to Yotel Rooftop Bar & Deck 12.
We pretty much celebrated my birthday here even though it wasn't for another week
but still counts and it was a night of celebration in a Boston rooftop bar.
We had some incredible foot and drinks here at the rooftop bar,
the weather was perfect as it came to the low 60s it wasn't too cold or too hot.
Day three it was game on at Fenway Park Stadium!
Yes! We bought some tickets to see the great Red Sox team.
I must say I'm not a huge a fan of baseball anymore,
I used to enjoy their games back in my early childhood since in Cuba we all grew up
watching baseball as it is a national sport but in my case I was mostly excited about soccer.
Anyways, we couldn't pass the opportunity of seeing a Red Sox game at Fenway Park.
We wanted to book the regular tours around the stadium and museum, however,
tours were almost at the exact time of the game and for precautions we didn't want to risk it.
The streets were so crowded and full of fans that was something crazy to witness!
We noticed every single corner was filled with kiosk selling jerseys, hats, t-shirts,
every souvenir about Boston or the Red Sox in case you didn't bring anything to support the team.
Instead, we went to the official Red Sox store which you can find it on the main entrance,
and got myself a couple of souvenirs for my collection alongside a baseball cap.
Back inside the stadium I was really shocked how immense and beautiful it
looks from the inside it's a whole new world the structure inside the stadium.
Before the game started I had the chance to explore around and take as many photos as I could.
One of the most emotional feelings was the national anthem was playing before the game,
everybody from the stadium stood up and sang the national anthem,
tells you how much respect we have for the anthem and this great country,
this was something beautiful to witness!
Unfortunately, the Red Sox lost this game against Anaheim Angels
but at least they tried their best to win and that's what counts.
We sure had a great and fantastic experience visiting the oldest baseball stadium in America!
After Red Sox games fans usually tend to hit the pubs and bars so we already
had a place to visit which was the thrilling Cheeky Monkey Brewing.
Okay I will have to admit and contradict myself that at the time I thought
Samuel Adams Boston Brewery was going to the best brewery we visited in Boston
but I was completely wrong and it took me by surprise how much I loved Cheeky Monkey.
Up next we had another rooftop bar that we had reservations, however,
the group decided to cancel as we wanted to try something else and
let the city of Boston surprised us with something more underground.
We found a hidden bar called Drink and guess what? It was underground!
Such a cool and subterranean concept to have bar in the city that you can't barely
spot unless you come walking around it and see it or you're told by someone.
This was by far the best bar with the most social and fun staff ever and I mean that by heart!
Here there's no menu and bartenders usually surprise you with different drinks and shots!
Short story we ordered more than 6 different shots and got hammered!
Definitely worth checking out this place if you ever in Boston.
Our last day we visited some local coffee shops around Seaport District,
and headed to the famous Faneuil Hall Marketplace to buy more souvenirs.
The rest of the afternoon was simply strolling around the other side of Downtown
that we have not seen before until it was time to catch our afternoon flight back to Miami.
Even though we missed out on two more breweries and one more rooftop bar that we need to visit,
I thought we had an excellent and incredible time in Boston and covered up a lot for the time here.
This is one city that I was looking forward to visit and I ended up falling in love with it.
I hope in the future I come back to visit once again when things are back to normal but at all
times we felt welcomed and the people of Boston were really amazing nation to get to know!
Well guys this is the end of the road for me.
I know this seems like a really long blog post and it's probably my longest blog no doubt
but pretty much I was able to include all the activities and destinations we visited
during our time here in Boston so I think it worth checking it out.
I hope you guys enjoy all this content and recommendations,
if you ever in Boston make sure to check out all of these places.
In the end I couldn't have asked for a better trip to Boston for my birthday,
excited to see what the future holds and maybe next year I'll experience something new!
