Off-Grid Camping in Jasper, FL
(Thanksgiving Trip)
Hello everyone.
Wishing everyone a late Happy Thanksgiving and hope everyone had an
amazing Thanksgiving long with their relatives and friends.
It has been a month since my last post here on my blog
so I thought I should updated you guys what I've been up to lately.
This year for Thanksgiving we prepared for another Friendsgiving trip,
this time we wanted to do something off-grid but in the outdoors as well.
We booked this amazing Airbnb campground/site that
was available right here in the North of Jasper, Florida.
It was one of those booking that came around while searching for campgrounds
and state parks for our camping spots and we just decided to book it last minute.
It came around fairly cheap and had a nice set up based on the pictures we had seen.
Thanksgiving Day was no other like every other year,
I spent it around my family visiting my Mom's house, Dad's house and in-laws as well.
The next day it was time for a long roadtrip to Jasper, Florida!
We woke up pretty early but didn't got onto the highway until 8AM,
I must say it the roads were pretty busy being Thanksgiving weekend and all,
not a lot people tend to drive around this holiday but this year was the exception.
We arrived to the beautiful and hidden campsite around 4PM
and had some time to check out the campground and
wow what a beauty of the campground!
The sun was setting down already and we needed some time to
unload our backpacks and accommodate our tents before night.
The campground is really primitive and off-grid,
includes a canopy tent with cots and bedding inside which
are comfortable and super relaxed to spend the night in.
Right in the middle of the campsite there's a bathroom with solar shower,
this is definitely a pretty cool and outdoorsy shower that I had the chance to try,
unfortunately, the water bags are cold freezing but you can always heat up the water by the fire.
All around this whole set up of the campsite was perfect and ready for us to enjoy it!
The sun was setting down already and we needed some time to unload
our backpacks and accommodate our tents before night.
A few moments later the rest of the group arrived on time as well,
we all spent our first night together celebrating and having a good time.
The next morning we decided to explore around and go for a short hike.
We encounter the Suwanee River that was close to the campground,
and the Suwanee River State Park was located here as well.
What actually got my attention is a long path of the Florida Trail was here.
Apparently, there are many trails that belong to the Florida Trail
and eventually one day me and Hector will have to hike through here.
We hike this section just until the middle of the trail just to get a better view
of the Suwanee River and to see how far this trail would take us.
It was beautiful hiking this section and I know I will enjoy it more
once I really have to go through it when we come back on the Florida Trail.
Our second night here was the best!
It was all about the life of the party,
we sang happy birthday to our friend Hector which was his birthday
on Thanksgiving day but he had come with us to celebrate it.
We played jenga games, dominoes, cards, listened to music,
told many great stories and had many laughs.
On our last morning here we made some big breakfast for everyone,
we share our last thoughts and words regarding this amazing weekend
and then it was time to pick up the campground and head back home.
This was definitely another successful Friendgiving trip and one of the books.
It has been two years back to back since we started this trend of Thanksgiving trips
and I hope we can continue doing it for the next couple of years.
Well guys this is our last stop of the blog,
I hope each and everyone of you had a pleasant and lovely Thanksgiving,
couldn't be more grateful for the time and experience we had on this year's Friendsgiving.
Please check out the rest of the content and we'll catch up soon with another blog!
Happy Thanksgiving!
