Labor Day Hiking Trip - Day 4: Carrigan Farms (Tennessee / North Carolina / Georgia)

Labor Day Hiking Trip - Day 4:
Carrigan Farms
(Tennessee / North Carolina / Georgia)
Hello guys.
We are back with another short blog of my Labor Day Hiking Trip.
After spending our last night camping at Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground
we headed to our next hiking destination which was somewhere in Murphy, North Carolina.
We wanted to visit the town of Murphy since we had heard so many cool stories
about it and they had several short hikes to do around the town.
Unfortunately, we decided to go the opposite side of North Carolina
and search for a new hiking destination to make this trip more interesting.
Lucky enough a good friend of ours was visiting North Carolina for a couple of days prior our trip,
and he recommend visiting Carrigan Farms which it seemed like a great destination to visit.
Since Carrigan Farms was far from Smoky Mountain Meadows and we still had to pass through
Georgia for one last visit before we go home we needed to drive 3-hours to reach Carrigan Farms.
As soon as we arrived to Carrigan Farms you'll see a huge cornfield with
a lot of parking space available alongside the acres of farmland.
Walking up to the entrance of Carrigan Farms tickets would come
around between $15-25 depending of the day of the week,
also your ticket will include you $5 meal voucher for you to use inside the concession.
Once you passed the entrance there is an area where you can keep walking
to get into the water or simply jump off from the cliff at designated areas.
The fun starts when you start jumping from the huge swing that are located at these designated areas, however, you must do a pull-up test before jumping from the rope which is an easy thing to do.
Each person is provided with a life vest at the entrance of the park to get into the water,
unless you pass what it's called the swim test to swim without a life vest.
The swim test will require you to jump from the quarry into the water,
usually 8-12 feet deep, then they will ask you to wave in the water for 1-2 minutes
to make sure you can fully adapt to the water and swim with no problems.
Later, the next instructions are to swim for about 20 meters to the other
side of the shore where the rest of the lifeguards are located.
While all of this seems very easy and simple it is not and it definitely wasn't for me,
as soon as I jumped into the water and waved for the next 1-minute or so I was out of breath,
I needed to have the lifeguards thrown a vest at me in order to get to the shore.
Yes, believe it or not!
Nonetheless it was a funny encounter but after all you'll end up needed a vest.
Anyways, for the next couple of hours we stayed swimming in the water
and doing the rest of the activities while also eating some great lunch at the concession.
In the end, we ended up loving Carrigan Farms for all the activities it has to offer,
it is the perfect summertime destination to visit if you are ever around Mooresville, North Carolina.
I'm hoping you guys can travel to Carrigan Farms one day and spent a full day here,
and remember to wear a vest before jumping into the water.
This is for this blog people I'll see you on the next one!
