Chasing Waterfalls - Day 1: Catarata Tesoro Escondido (Costa Rica Hiking Expedition)

Chasing Waterfalls - Day 1:
Catarata Tesoro Escondido
(Costa Rica Hiking Expedition)

Hello readers!
Hope everyone is doing well.
It's been a month or so since I got off social media and the world of blogging,
as a matter of fact I have not blogged for the past entire month,
which it may not seem like a lot, it is definitely a lot,
I always like to keep you guys updated with my latest adventures.
Since you guys already know, Hector and I stopped hiking the Florida Trail
a couple of weeks back due to several obstacles and personal reasons
(will talk more about our upcoming trip) and this time we
decided to head for an international trip,
an one week hiking expedition in Costa Rica!
This crazy idea came up in a conversation (thanks to my friend Hector)
while we were discussing if we should ever stop going to the Florida Trail or not,
in the end, Hector ended up convincing me, and to Costa Rica we flew.
We planned this trip, like any other of our hiking expeditions with a limited budget,
some credit cards for emergencies, and our hiking backpack with some clothes.
We had rented a camping van we found on Airbnb (you guys should check it out),
and we didn't thought it was real until we actually got to Costa Rica and drove this beast!
On our list of places to visit, we had included several waterfalls, volcanoes,
other points of interests, in case we had extra time to visit them.
Most of you don't know but my father lives in Costa Rica,
he has lived there for the past 15 years, and was very happy knowing
I was going on this hiking expedition in Costa Rica and to visit him too, of course.
After arriving in Costa Rica, we met my dad at the airport, a pretty strong and emotional
moment after not seeing him for the past 4-5 years, it's always feels like the first encounter.
We headed to a place called La Finca, that's were we picked our camping van
and headed to our first hike of the trip, discovering Catarata Tesoro Escondido.
It is approximately a 3.6-miles round trip hike with a beautiful scenery of nature,
unique rocks and pathways, and this stunning waterfall view.
The water spills nearly 300 feet into an extinct volcanic crater,
making in the largest waterfall in Costa Rica.
I remember this moment so vividly, seeing this waterfall it struck
me right away that I just gasped for a couple of seconds,
and enjoyed this great view just for that moment.
After all, not so bad for our first day hiking in Costa Rica!
At night we parked our camping van at the same location where the entrance of
Catarata Tesoro Escondido is located at, the owner of this land let us stayed
for an affordable price, including wood for the fire, and bathroom services.
Our first night was just amazing, we cooked some pasta and spaghetti
on the fire pit and had a great night enjoying the nice weather in Costa Rica.
Most of you don't know this but before migrating to the United Stated,
I had lived in Costa Rica for a full year, and even though I was little
I didn't have a chance to experience the outdoor life in Costa Rica.
When coming to this trip, my initial thoughts were thinking something bad
could have happened to one of us, and making sure we were all safe was
my main priority, knowing we were all going to a foreign country,
and the fact I had experience the lifestyle in Costa Rica and how dangerous
sometimes certain places can be, it made me wonder
if it was even worth doing this hiking trip at all, and it was,
it was worth every single hour and moment.
A country filled with a great scenery of nature, amazing waterfalls,
excellent people and many cool adventurous places.
Costa Rica is simply amazing you guys!
Since I'm back now and still catching with some of my daily basis routine,
while I hope you enjoy this blog post and all the content,
I'm still editing more pictures from this trip that
eventually will go up on my next upcoming blog posts.
Hope you enjoy this blog and see on you on the next one.
How locals say in Costa Rica all the time
Pura Vida!
