Arches National Park
(Utah Hiking Expedition)
Hello everyone!
We are back with our last blog post of this Utah Hiking expedition.
The next morning after leaving Devils Garden campground we had a great list of hiking places to visit,
our list included several arches such as: Delicate Arch, Skyline Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Tunnel Arch.
Our first hike of the day was Delicate Arch, it is a 3-miles up close and short hike to this amazing arch.
The trail starts with a few feet up and with a pretty sweet view of the small canyons, unfortunately,
there's no shades over so it can get pretty hot even in November for this type of trails.
Another mile or so, you are able to spot the entire valley and other sections of the trail from way up,
you will feel that it is not that high up but it balances out from the beginning of the trail.
There was a main section of the hike that I quite enjoyed and thought it was super cool,
this section is completely flat but has a drop-off terrain that feels like you are going to fall off the arch.
Once you keep going up the view just keeps getting better and better,
when you finally come around the corner of a dome in the trail you are able to spot Delicate Arch.
Delicate Arch is truly mesmerizing, it blew me away right from the spot!
As you get closer to the arch the bigger it gets and it just pretty shocking how this piece of rock
formation has been here for many years and there's no better way to describe the incredible sculpture.
Once you arrive to this close section of the arch you'll find many people in here and it
can get pretty packed and annoying to take any pictures or to simply enjoy this arch.
This was by far one of the best arches we visited on this national park.
Off next, we visited the short but beautiful Skyline Arch.
The trail for this arch was rather easy as it was located in the middle of a parking lot of the Devils
Gardens campground, so all you had to do was park and hike the short trail to the arch.
I would say the distance of the trail is about 0.5-miles or less than that, so within 1-mile
roundtrip you are able to explore and get a close look at Skyline Arch.
Believe it or not, this is one of the most popular landmarks in Arches National Park,
since it is so close the campground and is easy to explore it makes it a perfect spot to hike.
We were able to wander around the arch and found other trails that led to outer back of the arch,
different domes and section of rocks that was pretty sweet to explore.
Next, we headed to the famous Devils Garden trail which included many arches:
Pine Tree Arch, Tunnel Arch, Landscape Arch, Partition Arch, Navajo Arch,
Double O Arch, Dark Angel Arch and Private Arch.
We chose just to hike the Pine Tree Arch and Tunnel Arch since both were only 0.5-miles
and we needed to head back to Colorado early to catch our flight, also, this entire Devils
Garden trail would have taken us a couple of hours to complete the entire trail loop.
The hike on this trail is pretty easy, comfortable and very sandy!
Along the way you'll find many tall and beautiful sandstone fins,
it makes you think you are walking into another whole dimension.
First, you'll spot Tunnel Arch but you can only view it from far away but it is worth it.
Next, you have Pine Tree Arch which opposite to Tunnel Arch you can get a closer
view of the arch and even enjoy the scenery of these beautiful canyons.
We felt sad for not continuing on with the next portion of the trail and not being able to move forward
to the next arches, however, we felt like we need to visit this hiking place with better time.
Arches National Park was a completely different experience for all of us,
I didn't expect to have such a great time enjoying these magnificent arches and canyons,
one thing is for sure is you can never be disappointed with the hikes Utah has to offer.
Well people it's time to finish off with this series of my Utah Hiking expedition,
please make sure to comment and check out all the hiking places we visited,
but most importantly take a look at this amazing photos of the Arches.
See you guys on the next series!
