Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge (Georgia Hiking Trip)

Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge
(Georgia Hiking Trip)
Hello readers.
Welcome back to another blog post of my Georgia Hiking Trip.
After moving on from hiking the waterfalls of Cloudland Canyon State Park,
my next stop was visiting Amicalola Falls which I was excited to see.
The same afternoon I drove 2-hours to get to Amicalola Falls State Park
as it was located on the north and east side of the state.
As soon as I arrived to the park they were about to close in the next hour,
so I got really lucky to purchase a parking entrance on time and to be able to do any hikes.
Starting off I was surprised to see how many visitors there were in the state park,
it is good reason why is one of the most popular and visited state parks in Georgia.
They offer many activities and top hikes inside the park, visitors can stay in the lodges and
cottages these which can be found on the top of the mountains which its pretty cool.
For their hikes, they have the following trails: Amicalola Falls Trail, Hike Inn Trail,
Len Foote Hike Inn, AT Approach Trail, and other shorts trails within the park.
Of course, the main attraction of this state park is Amicalola Falls is why every visitors comes to see.
This waterfall is considered to be the tallest fall in Georgia structured to be a towering fall spilling
down the water through set of rocks that just makes it a beautiful and majestic set up.
It is also the highest cascade falls in the east of the Mississippi River.
In order to get some sight of Amicalola Falls you start by hiking a paved trail until
you come across a series of stairs which will get you tired at some point,
but the more you climb you'll start getting some awesome views of Amicalola Falls.
I was able to get some cool photos within the pines trees of the sunset
coming down and other areas of the state park as well.
As soon as you climb all the stairs and get to the top you'll get the best view
of the entire trail, waterfall and the valley of Amicalola State Park.
What surprised me the most was at the top of waterfall you'll see one of main access to the Appalachian
Trail, it is said that the Appalachian Trail starts over here and passing the Springer Mountain which it
would be official start of the 2,000+ miles of the Appalachian Trail, which sounds really insane to me.
At the main office I was able to notice how many hikers were purchasing their tickets to enter the
Appalachian Trail and passing through the entrance of where the trail would start, this was so cool!
I quite enjoyed Amilcalola Falls State Park for what it was and what it had to offer, however,
make sure to visit in the morning or early afternoon if do not want to get within large crowds.
We'll continue on the next blog post were I visit more waterfalls on the next day of this adventure.
See you up next guys!
