(Georgia Hiking Trip)
Hello guys.
This is the final blog on this series of Georgia Hiking Trip.
On my last day in Georgia I was already in Atlanta and heading to Stone Mountain Park my final stop.
The same afternoon I visited Roswell Mill Falls I went straight up to Stone Mountain,
they were about to close last minute and I made it up there on time for the hike.
Stone Mountain offers a vast majority of attractions and hikes on the entire park,
the attractions include Summit Skyride, Lasershower Spectacular, Geyser Towers, SkyHike, Scenic
Railroad, 4-D Theater, Ride The Ducks, The Great Barn, Antebellum Plantation, Stone Mountain
Museum and most importantly hiking your way up to Stone Mountain.
The park features a total of 15-miles distance all around for hikes in the entire park,
including the 5-mile hike around the base and 2.2-mile roundtrip to the summit of Stone Mountain.
The Walk-Up or Summit Trail is the principal trail to hike to the summit, it is a very rocky, moderate
and steep trail, including a total of 3,851 steps, and almost feels like climbing on a lot of stairs.
The trail gets very steep and rocky once you reach the middle of the hike, so I stopped at
several sections of the trail to catch my breath and enjoy some great view from up here.
The great thing about hiking in the late afternoon is you can catch some really sunsets over here.
Once you start noticing the summit from the trail you'll notice the poles that are attached to the ground,
these are really great and will help you climb the steep ground on this section of the trail.
Arriving to the summit of the mountain you'll get spectacular and amazing 360-degree panoramic views
of Stone Mountain Park, views of the skyline, Kennesaw Mountain and Downtown Atlanta far away.
On the top I snapped a lot of pictures of the landmarks and sat through to watch the sunset,
enjoying the great atmosphere and relaxing my last couple of minutes on the summit.
Heading down is a lot easier, I must admit it is always easier for me when it comes to any steep trail,
however, since it was only 1-mile down the same route it makes a lot easier to reach the base.
Another option to come down is by riding the Summit Skyride which offers a pretty sweet ride
and an amazing view riding it as well, I didn't have the chance to ride it but people seemed to enjoy it.
Back down at the park I had to rush my way into the Stone Mountain Campground which was located
on the other side of the park, it wasn't far but once again I was running late before the campground close.
I rented a primitive campsite for the night, close to the lake which had an amazing scenery
of Stone Mountain and I couldn't resist to take pictures of the beautiful landscape.
Around 1:00 AM it started raining out of nowhere and the rain woke me up from my sleep,
the wind was blowing up pretty wild and intense, it wouldn't stop raining for hours and I really spent
the night holding my tent from the inside in case it would blow away and enjoying the rain.
The next morning was the calm after the storm, a beautiful-breezy morning,
with a great view of Stone Mountain rock.
Stone Mountain has always been a place I wanted to visit but never had the chance before,
now I could say I had awesome time and I will always come back to visit Stone Mountain.
Guys, Stone Mountain is one of the top places in Georgia and it's a must visit if you are in the peach state,
great to visit around Memorial Day Weekend, Summer Fourth Celebrations, or any other holiday.
This is the end of this blog series guys, I really appreciate for following along and enjoying all my content,
now it's time to enjoy the rest of this year and make plans for a new year 2020!
