(Georgia Hiking Trip)
Hello guys.
We are back with another short blog of my Georgia Hiking Trip.
After getting out late from Amicalola Falls State Park I was setting route to
Shady Grove Campground which was the campsite I was staying for the night.
On my way there, I come to find out that the campground was close for the season,
however, online it said it was open which it is something I should have check before this trip.
Anyways, after searching for other campgrounds around the area I ended up getting a
reservation at River Forks Campground which was a life saver.
You know what they say sometimes things work for themselves!
The next morning it was time to head up to Tallulah Gorge State Park.
I made it to the park before it was even open that's how excited I was for today's adventure.
Tallulah Gorge State Park offers attractions and activities such as: Jane Hurt Yarn Center, many waterfalls
L'Eau D'Or, Tempesta, Hurricane, Oceana, Bridal Veil which are visible from the overlooks, and several
trails Hurricane Falls Trail, Sliding Rock Trail, North & South Rim Trails, Shortline Trail.
Along with the water activities from kayaking, canoeing or mountain biking as well.
At first, I visited the Jane Hurt Yarn Center which was super cool and informative,
they have several rooms with exhibits and artifacts from the park,
you can learn about the park's history, nature, animals and other great advices.
Once you start hiking your way around the park you'll start seeing Overlooks which can provide
you a visible and great view of the waterfalls from the top and making your way down.
On the trails you have several stairs and suspension bridges that are just spectacular,
it adds another great element to the park making it unique and remarkable.
Hurricane falls was one of the highlights and my favorite waterfall of the state park.
Usually, you are allowed to hike your way down to the Gorge and surpass the entrance
but it really depends on the time of the year, however, many visitors were just jumping
the rim and getting into the water which to my knowledge it wasn't permitted.
I continued hiking the North and South trails which they all connect to the entire park as a trail-loop,
on these trails you can find other Overlooks which give you access to other hidden waterfalls.
For those that love a challenge of doing canoeing/kayaking on these waters I believe they would really
enjoy it, I didn't have the chance to explore these activities as I had to move on to the next waterfall.
I almost forgot to mention that Tallulah Gorge also provides camping and cabins for those
that would like to stay for the night, these are located at Black Rock
Mountain State Park which it is somewhat affiliated with Tallulah,
however, you will need to get out of the state park zone and drive a bit to the mountains.
Anyways, I was able to finish this entire state park within 1hr 10mins and I admit it was pretty fast.
I have to say Tallulah Gorge was pretty impressive and particular,
after visiting and exploring fully I have to stay is one of the best state parks in Georgia.
