Cloudland Canyon State Park (Georgia Hiking Trip)

Cloudland Canyon State Park
(Georgia Hiking Trip)
Hello everyone.
Welcome to another series of a new hiking expedition.
After coming back from my short hiking trip in Utah and spending all week resting
at home I couldn't wait for Thanksgiving to come around in the next few days.
For the next couple of days I have felt so tired and busy with so many projects that I had pending,
from getting back to my daily duties at home, working on my photography, writing
my blog post from previous trips which took most of my time during this week.
How did this hiking expedition happened? I'm not quite sure, I know I'm always mentioning
that I need to be out there as soon as I come back from any hiking trip, but I honestly
I didn't come to realize I needed to make another trip right away.
During Thanksgiving week I had a couple of days off available which I ended up
using so I had time to actually go ahead and take off for the long weekend.
I decided to take part of our traditional Thanksgiving lunch with the family since I wouldn't be
able to make it to dinner this time around and then headed out on my roadtrip to Georgia.
Why did I picked Georgia? Well, the simple reason that is only 8-9 hours away from Miami,
and on a Thanksgiving weekend it was perfect time since most of the state parks will be empty.
I left on the same Thanksgiving afternoon on my way to Georgia all by myself.
On my itinerary I had listed mainly waterfalls which were my main attraction since
Georgia has some hidden falls that are just beautiful and great to visited, however,
I started searching for other short hikes to include on my list and mix it up a bit.
For my list I had Cloudland Canyon Falls, Amicalola Falls, Anna Ruby Falls,
Hurricane/Tallulah Falls, Indian Seats Trail, Roswell Mill Waterfall, and Stone Mountain.
I stopped the same night at the usual I-75 Rest Area/10-Northbound which it is a great rest
area located in Georgia already just 1-hour before reaching the city of Macon,
even though I was only a few hours before getting to Cloudland Canyon I was already excited
to be over state in Georgia and that I got enough sleep to get through the day.
Arriving to Cloudland Canyon State Park you can spot right away how beautiful and colorful
fall season is over here, it is definitely one of the most beautiful colors I've seen.
This state park is full with nature, hiking trails, caves and waterfalls of course.
The two main waterfalls are located deep down the trails which are only 2-miles in total,
or the best way to describe them hike 600 stairs down to the waterfalls.
Hiking down you'll find the two amazing Hemlock and Cherokee falls which are stunning!
It all starts at the beginning of the trail when you start seeing a little creek from far away
until you hike a little bit up the trail and spot one of these awesome falls.
Since these are the only two waterfalls down here both are separated from each for
just 0.5-miles so its a lot easier to hike back and forth and enjoy in the same area.
I ended up liking Cherokee Falls a bit more as it was majestic and beautiful as
soon as I spotted right away I knew this one will be my favorite.
Once I explored the rest of the state park I kind of knew was I was getting into
on this hiking expedition and what Georgia was going to offer me.
Anyways guys check these photos out and let me know what you think.
Next up, I have many other falls and places to show you.
Catch you on the next blog post.
