Three States Hiking - Day 5:
Watsadler Campground
(Alabama / Georgia / South Carolina)
Hello my fellow hikers!
We are back with our last blog of this series Three States Hiking trip.
As soon as we were done hiking the main waterfalls we headed to our designated campground.
Originally I wanted to camp at Twin Lakes Campground which offered a beautiful scenery
of Lake Hartwell and other shores on this remote island full of campgrounds, however,
due to my own fault of not booking a campsite in time I was not able to get a last minute reservation.
Therefore, I decided to get a reservation at Watsadler Campground which had a similar take.
Just as the previous days I arrived to the campsite at night and had to bring all my tent gear to set it up,
start cooking as soon as possible and getting ready to enjoy my last night of this hiking trip.
Here are just a few things to know if you are staying at Watsadler Campground,
it is located near the border of Georgia and South Carolina state and
near the Hartwell Dam, the campground park is open year round,
they have a total of 51 campsites all with electric and water hook ups.
Most of the campsites are waterfront views with a fantastic landscape of the lake.
The rest of the amenities at the campground include restroom/shower facilities,
dump station, playgrounds, parking areas, fishing, and other activities.
When I arrived this night I was lucky they had plenty of campsites available,
so I booked a site with waterfront view to Hartwell Dam and lake.
The next morning I woke up to a beautiful Saturday
morning and with an incredible view of the lake.
The great thing about this campsite it has a sandy shore area where you
can place your camping chair to sit and enjoy your mornings here,
which is what I did on this Saturday morning.
I honestly can say I had an enjoyable and great time here at Watsadler Campground
for being my last day as I knew all I wanted to do is relax and enjoy
this one last time of the trip before I headed home to Miami.
The same day I decided it was time to cut short my extra day here of the
weekend and sail back home the same Saturday morning.
I felt like I had accomplished all my hiking destinations and waterfalls that I planned on
seeing and I would have an extra day to relax at home and prepare for the start of a new week.
This hiking trip has been for the books and one of the most memorable after a long
year of Covid, pandemic, and many other things in my personal life.
It has been refreshing and different to just get away even for a couple of days
doing what I love the most which it is hiking and exploring new places.
I leave you guys on this last note hoping everyone has enjoyed this blog series,
make sure to check out all these blog post and the rest of my travel blogs as well.
As always I will see soon or on the next blog post.
Take care!
